TAT

SSB PSYCHO TEST - TAT: WHAT IS EXPECTED BY A PSYCHOLOGIST AND HOW YOU WRITE THE STORY

The story writing gives a candidate an insight of thinking process, aiming at success, achievement and accomplishment throughout his life.

  • It is a projective method of assessing one’s personality. The candidate gives appreciation of his own qualities without being ‘self conscious’ and depicts expression of his own personality. His aptitude, attitude and imagination towards his life, shape his career and thoughts determine his future. Thus, an ambitious candidate moulds his thoughts into practical reality, resultantly achieving success/victory.
  • It is a test of candidate’s imagination.  It is a method of exploring a person’s sub conscious mind by stimulating his fantasy and interpreting it.  The candidate is encouraged to come out with ideas and inner hidden or latent material which will not be available to him normally.
  • The candidate organizes partly what he finds in the picture and partly his association with stimuli recalled from his past experience.
  • All the objects and persons in the picture have to play their part in the story. But it is not necessary to mention everything that you see in the picture.  You may omit anything that you think superfluous.  Likewise, you may include in the story anything which may not appear in the picture but may help in building up the story by providing missing links.
  • When looking at the picture, he must quickly analyze the situation depicted in it under the following heads:

             (a)  What is the situation depicted in the picture?

    (b)  How did it come into being or what events led to it?

©   How will it develop and conclude or what will be the outcome?

  • The theme or plot of the story should be within the limitations of a normal human being.  Interesting but normal situations should be created and the hero (yourself) should be able to tackle the situations and resolve them to the best of his capacity, leading to a logical and healthy ending.
  • In future achievements, you have to do a selfless work continuously, which should serve the common mass people/society/environment.
