WAT

PSYCHO TEST : WHAT DO YOU MEAN A WAT? - IT IS A TEST OF PERSONALITY AND NOT A TEST OF LANGUAGE

  • It is necessary to test the personality of the candidate through his association of ideas about men and matters.  The Psychologist makes an assessment about the personality of the candidate by showing him words of different types of carefully selected by him.  With the help of the candidate’s association revealed by seeing the particular word, the Psychologist draws his own conclusions about the personality of the candidate.
  • It must be remembered that WAT is a test of personality and not a test of language. He has to write down the first idea that strikes his mind on seeing the word, in the form of complete sentence as far as possible.  In order to express the idea correctly it is best to make ka short sentence.
  • The candidate is not required to define or describe the word. He has only to show his mind’s association with the word.  He should write down the first thought that comes to him on seeing the word.
  • These words are specially selected and arranged in a particular order or pattern so that the psychologist can draw his own  conclusions.  He can adjudge the candidate’s personality  from his association of ideas stemming from a particular word.
  • The same word arouses different ideas, feelings emotions in different persons.
  • Therefore it is wrong to cram up reactions noted down in readymade SSB help books. You should given your own reactions, not of the book-writer’s.
