THE EXCELLENT WAY TO ORGANIZE A LECTURE IN THE GTO TEST WOULD BE ...
- AIDA – The acronym stands for : win their attention / arouse their interest / create a desire / stimulate action or agreement
- CHRONOLOGICAL – (1) where we have been (2) where we are today (3) where we need to be tomorrow.
- THE 3X3 METHOD – This is an excellent way to organize a speech to convince or persuade. Start with your theme and come up with three main points to support it. Under each main point, offer 3 supporting reasons. The first main point should be strongest and the last should lead into your conclusion, which restates your theme and the benefits for your listeners.
- FINALLY, whatever organizing method you use, be sure not to cover too much ground or make too many points. Remember speaking is always different from writing. Your listeners can’t rewind your talk to think about a certain point more deeply and they can’t stop you at will to reflect on your word. It definitely pays to be simple, clear and focused while presenting your message.
