WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES NOT RECOMMENDED BY THE SSB?

The main aim of the SSB is to assess the potential candidates based on his/her qualities (more precisely OLQs) by putting him under various tests. The evaluation is totally based on the candidate's performance on different aspects of testing.

No one fails in SSB. You are not recommended if you are not found to be right fit for the organisation.

Reasons for not being selected:

  • Candidates bluff or fake things which puts a question mark on their originality or credibility.
    • They copy paste note book and coaching ideas on PPDT and TAT without perceiving the pictures. Also few Candidates describe the picture instead of framing the story around it. It is a test of imagination and idea processing.
    • The candidates write learnt sentences, facts, proverbs and sayings, universal truths in WAT without putting any pressure on the mind. Correlation between the self description and the words is also missing.
    • They answer the SRTs in a manipulative way and responses are sometimes doubtful.
    • Self description is found to be fake, boastful as it does not match with the traits you displayed in last 3 tests.
    • During GD and GPE, they try to dominate and don’t let others speak. Also, the thought processing and organising capabilities are not properly displayed as candidates are unable to prioritize the work in GPE.
    • Some candidates snatch balli, phatta, load from others and do not cooperate in the group tasks. It shows lack of cooperation and team spirit.
    • Spirit, confidence and effective intelligence lacks somewhere or the other in Ground outdoor tasks such as PGT, HGT, Command task and Individual obstacles.
    • Fumbling, lack of good speaking skills hinder the performance in the Lecturette and Interview.
  • Interview plays an important role as it is one-to-one interaction with the IO for approximately 30–40 minutes. Improper dressing, shabby grooming, loose body language, bad eye contact and lack of expression and knowledge makes a candidate lose a ground  for selection.
  • Lack of determination and seriousness towards the defence forces adds to rejection.
