Factor III: Social Effectiveness

This factor includes five qualities which are an outcome of the dyamic of head and heart.

  1. Initiative (Inv): Ability to originate an action and take the lead in right direction and sustain it till the goal is achieved.
  2. Self Confidence (SC): It is the faith in your own abilities to meet stressfull situations and face them boldly.
  3. Speed of Decision (SOD): Ability to take workable decisions quickly while having appropriateness in it.
  4. Ability to Influence the Group (AIG): Ability to convince others to do things willingly that you want them to do without use of any force.
  5. Liveliness (Liv): Capacity of a person to remain calm and cheerful when faced with difficulties, and bring about a cheerful atmosphere in the group.

Factor IV: Dynamic

This factor includes three qualities which checks your coordination between the mind and the body.

  1. Determination (Det): The ability to put in sustained efforts to achieve objectives inspite of obstacles and setbacks.
  2. Courage (Cou): Ability to appreciate and take purposive risks i.e 'calculated risks when required'.
  3. Stamina (Sta): It is the capacity to withstand protracted physical and mental strain.

Despite these 15 olqs of which SSB is all about I would suggest you start with three basic things which bring out a difference between an officer and a civilian.

  • Personality development
  • Self-introspection
