FEW MYTHS ABOUT SSB # 26 - 30

MYTHS  #26:  Being from a defence background helps

The only advantage of being from a defence background is that you have a heads up to the norms and traditions of the Armed Forces. It does not affect the recommendation  process at all. The only reason many people from defence background are selected is because they are encouraged to join the armed forces.

MYTHS  #27  :  Sports & Extra Curricular activities are a plus point:

To a certain extent, yes, they showcase that you are physically active but they do not form the entire criteria for being selected. Being an officer is much more than physically fit and good in extra curricular activities. Along with Sports, try to improve your general awareness and understanding of International relations to have an added advantage.

MYTHS  #28:  Pre written & memorised answers will help in the SSB

If you practice and memorise most of the Interview, WAT and other answers beforehand, you will suffer immensely in the recommendation process. Instead,  practicing writing within the time limit and in a more presentable manner would be useful. Don't memorise answers beforehand, it gives away your entire fake attempt at being genuine.

MYTHS  #29  :  Reservation/Corruption take place in the SSB

It can be seen that  some of the other guys are not even worth it and they got recommended. Some of the other candidates have not even performed the tests well and yet they made the merit list and so on. They blame it on corruption or some kind of reservation. Instead of blaming other, you need to look upon our performance as an individual. There is never any corruption in the SSB process.

MYTHS  #30  :  Academic Toppers have privilege.

No. sometimes academic mark of 50% get recommended, those with 95% get rejected. It is all depend on ones OLQ.
