Success Stories

A SUCCESS STORY FROM PRAGADESH T

Hello aspirants..!! this is PRAGADESH and  I feel very much proud to say that I  earned my tag” SUB LIEUTENANT PRAGADESH “. Inspired from a bollywood movie “LAKSHAYA”  I wanted to join armed forces as an officer right from my childhood. My dream would have not turned into reality if I had n’t gone to “SHANKAR’S SSB ACADEMY” in Salem(Tamil nadu). Yeah.... whatever we are...a fresher or screened out candidate or a repeater, I  swear that we guys won’t belong to that class because we will be shaped into a recommended candidate who don’t care about the merit list.

If SSB training is an art, then Lt Col P BALASUBRAMANIAN sir is a Picasso of it.

Actually I’m a screened out candidate and I got call letter to attend SSB at Bangalore for “SSC GS(X)” a naval entry. Initially I wanted to head towards Delhi.

But my brother...an esteemed alumni of this great institute who is serving in Navy insisted me to join here.

The thing which is special here is...we will be allowed to commit our own mistakes related to OLQ’s from the first day so that we can know our own level towards SSB. We got lot of home works as well as class works also. I swear that u guys wont get bored. I advice u guys  not to skip the home works. ”No pain no gain”. If u follow him and travel along with him at same rhythm means then even the god can’t stop your recommendation.

Let me explain about my on field experience.

DAY 1: SCREENING TEST

On the first day , only 78 reported for interview. Right from that moment my mind said that “now or never”. Trust me..the hardest part of SSB is screening in. Once u came to Sir’s Academy means its not a matter. I attended all 80 questions within time and everything was absolutely correct. Then had my PPDT, written a wonderful story, narrated it with full confidence. Almost everyone in my group accepted my story as the common story. While comparing with my previous SSB @Allahabad , my skill and confidence had grown up like a mountain. Because I rectified all my flaws and I knew that I nailed it. I got screened in with minimum efforts.

DAY 2: PSYCHOLOGY TEST

In TAT I wrote 12 stories without any struggle or mind fucks because I had already written more than 100 TAT’s in classes. so, it wasn’t a big deal for me.

In WAT I had completed all 60 words with full positive vibration. He taught us how to tackle the shittest word easily and to produce positive out of negative (eg- smoking, rape, killing, defeat)

SRT is my favorite part but I attended only 49 with high class answers. My interviewer questioned me about the count of SRT but I replied him that ”sir, I wont regret for quantity because I have already proved myself in quality.

INTERVIEW

I got my interview right after the psych tests. Sir taught us how to answer sharply with confidence and he always mention that “ you should show ur all OLQ’s in a single answer , complete it within minutes and get recommended. As he said I followed him and completed my interview within 20 minutes and all other batch mates had their interview for 2 hours each.

DAY 3 & 4;

Geared up in full whites. Our GTO’s started with GD. During classes he found that I was dominating others, he advised me to go easily rather than dominating. I followed his words and gave cheeky and valuable points in between.

I swear , group planning exercise happened like what he said. So I easily crossed that.

All other tasks wasn’t a problem for me because I learnt what to do  from sir. So easily I completed everything.

DAY 5: CONFERENCE

Here comes the D day. Packed up in neat outfits we were taught the protocol to be followed during conference. When my turn came, I walked into the room of full of officers. Deputy President threw some informal questions and I replied them nicely and left the place in seconds.

Then we were made to sit in a seminar hall . Followed by an inspirational speech they came with the results.

Room became pin drop silent and everyone felt not only their heart beats but also others. He said, “gentlemen ...I’m going to announce the guys who made it this time.......CHEST NO-3(not me)...... CHEST NO-12(again not me)..... and there was a pass... I thought OMG ..... then he said CHEST NO-18(yeah..its me)....

I was at cloud nine...i just laid on the table... omg.... my heart exploded in joy ....meanwhile my batchmates hugged me, kissed me ....  FINALLY... INDIAN NAVY deserved me.

Then I completed my medicals and fit for navy.

The funniest part is... I got recommended very before my ENGINEERING  8th semester result got published. I just smiled at the result and said ...”TOO SLOW TORTOISE.... I’VE ALREDY STARTED MY CAREER”.

I thank Shankar SSB Academy, Salem for their guidance and Sir for analysing us and moulding us in preparation to face the SSB. To all the repeater, it is a myth to think to recommend,  candidate has less chance as we are all assessed freshly every time we went and I have seen previously recommended candidates being screened out and also not being recommended. It all depends on your performance in that period and all recommended candidates in our current batch was repeater. You need to have detailed self-analysis and prepare well for next time and most importantly believe in yourself.
