A SUCCESS STORY OF JEEVANANDAM S (RECOMMENDED FOR TECHNICAL BRANCH IN INDIAN AIRFORCE )
Hello everyone! This is JEEVANANDAM S, recommended candidate for Indian Airforce through AFCAT entry. I’m a guy with no defence background. I gained my interest to join prestigious armed forces during my NCC period in college days. We were taken for many camps to different naval bases in Indian Navy. There, I admired the daily routine of the officers. So, I decided to join the forces wherein I will be able to utilize my physical and mental strengths equally. My senior suggested me to undergo coaching from Lt Col BALASUBRAMANIAN which resulted in my recommendation in my very first attempt.
STAGE 1: SCREENING TEST
Around 180 candidates reported at 2AFSB MYSORE. After call letter and RT-PCR check, I was given Chest No. 6 and we guys were made to sit in the hall for OIR test. As Sir insisted I practiced lot of OIR sets and it made me to perform well. Then we were separated into groups of 15 and PPDT image was displayed. I perceived the image and weaved the story as per the guidance given by Balasubramanian sir. Then I narrated the story and during discussion I participated well thereby the whole group accepted my story and I finally narrated the group’s common story.
After Lunch, results were announced. My chest number was called and a total of around 60 candidates got screened in. For stage 2 I was given chest No.4. Then we filled the PIQ forms and routed to respective rooms.
STAGE 2: PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST
Psychological tests, the most important part of SSB. My excellence in this test was achieved only by the guidance of Balasubramanian sir. I completed all 12 TAT’s , 60 WAT’s , 60 SRT’s and also the SD in the given time. Writing TAT stories became my favourite part of the whole SSB procedure.
GROUP TASKS
We were a group of 8 candidates. We created a friendly environment with each other in short span which made all our group tasks much enjoyable.
GD- Firstly it started with group discussion. The topics were Aadhar card and its impact followed by Role of International Organisations. I initiated the discussion both the times. Everyone participated and went quite well.
GPE- Next to Psychological tests Balasubramanian sir’s guidance helped me a lot in GPE. Mark my words , If you get guidance for GPE from Balasubramanian sir your views will be completely different for every situations . My solution was finalised by my teammates in my SSB.
PGT, HGT, CT, FGT - When it comes to these tasks, your spontaneity and co-ordination with teammates highly matters. Come up with solutions to each obstacles as fast as possible. In CT, I was given a difficult obstacle. Once I completed the obstacle within given time the GTO told me to come up with another solution which was also done in given time. I was called as sub-ordinate thrice by my teammates.
IO- I completed 8 obstacles in the given time.
LECTURETTE- Give a bold and interesting narration on the topic which you choose. I gave my lecturette on topic Organ Trafficking.
INTERVIEW
My interview was quite good but not excellent. From start to end I answered every questions in a relaxed way. I answered every question which was asked regarding personal life, family, friends , academics and even current affairs too but I didn’t even answer half of the questions which was asked regarding technical branch. Since I gave technical branch as my first preference, he questioned me a lot regarding it. Though I didn’t know answers for even half of it, I didn’t get carried away by it. I genuinely answered for known stuffs and rest I told him I didn’t know. My interview lasted for 45 minutes.
CONFERENCE
My performance in interview gave me little doubts but I was confident with my psychological and group works. So, I remained calm and composed. My chest number was called. It didn’t even last for 1 minute. They asked basic questions regarding stay and preparation. Once everyone finished their conference results were announced. The officers told to guess the number of recommendations. Everyone answered somewhere around five. The officer laughed and told that we guys were pessimistic and told that 11 got recommended. Huge number I have ever heard till date. Firstly chest no.2 was called followed by no.4. I was very happy at that moment. I stood up with abundant joy and energy as my aspiration to join armed forces was achieved. Out of 11 candidates 5 were freshers and 6 repeaters.
I owe big part of my recommendation to Lt Col BALASUBRAMANIAN. When it comes to medicals I was given unfit in IAM and Appeal Medical Board for spine issues. Finally given fit in my Review Medical Board. After first medical rejection I called Balasubramanian sir, those words which he spoke at that moment gave me a much needed endurance to face every situation. Thanks again Balasubramanian Sir. I request every aspirant to give persistent efforts to make your passion come true. Best Wishes:)
